My initial concerns for Irv Smith Jr. as an NFL prospect far out-numbered the positives I saw for the former Crimson Tide tight end. At 6'2, Smith will be one of the shortest tight ends to take the field in 2019, but he's a bit thiccer than anticipated at 242, so the frame isn't necessarily a death sentence. Smith is a player that's risen up my rankings dramatically post-NFL Draft because of his draft capital, where he landed, the QB he's tied to, the lack of weaponry in Minnesota and the trade rumors swirling around current Vikings tight End Kyle Rudolph. Let's break each of these factors down individually.
